Parking
Last updated: Thursday 14 May 2026Car parking charges and number plate recognition
Our car parks are controlled by a system that uses an automatic number plate recognition to record vehicle registrations which is transmitted to the parking pay machines.
Machines are located in the following areas:
Warrington
- outside the Main Entrance (cash and card payments)
- outside the Emergency Department (A&E) entrance (card payments only)
- Burtonwood Wing, outside of the Children's Outpatients entrance (card only payments)
- Croft Wing, corridor inside near the vending machines (card only payments)
- Daresbury Wing - inside the main foyer (card only payments)
Halton
- inside the Outpatients entrance 1 (cash and card payments)
- inside the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) entrance (cash and card payments)
- Captain Sir Tom Moore Building, inside the main foyer (cash and card payments)
- inside the Brooker Centre Entrance (card only payments)
You will need to input your vehicle registration number into the machine. If using the parking pay machines, you must pay on exit, as the system will hold information on how long you have been parked for. The machines accept cash, card or contactless payments.
You can also pay for parking at both our hospital sites using a mobile payment app. This can be downloaded from app stores and appears as ‘Trust’ on the Google Play Store and 'Trust Parking' on the App Store.
You must make payment by midnight on the day of your visit. Information about the app will be displayed on car parking signage on patient and visitor car parks at our hospitals.
Car parking charges
The first 30 minutes on site are free (i.e. from entering the site to leaving) and means visitors and patients are allowed to park for this initial period without making payment. This is to support visitors dropping off friends or relatives and accompanying them into the hospitals as well as patients who are visiting for quick pre-arranged tests, collecting prescriptions or making other quick visits.
The standard parking charges from 9 September 2025 are:
- first 30 minutes - free (please note new time)
- up to 2 hours - £3.20
- up to 4 hours - £4.20
- up to 6 hours - £5.80
- up to 24 hours - £6.80
All visitors (excluding blue badge holders) must pay for parking but there are a range of concessions outlined elsewhere on this page.
Not paying for parking on exit or by midnight of the day of the visit, if using the app, could mean you are subject to receiving a parking charge notice from our parking company Group Nexus.
Electric vehicle charging cost
The price of electric vehicle charging at Warrington Hospital and Halton Hospital for staff, patients and visitors is 49p per kilowatt (KW). The units are 22kw chargers and there is a maximum stay of four hours.
Further parking information is included in the sections below.
Hospital parking update
New double red line markings and cross hatchings are being introduced on our hospital sites to protect access for ambulances, fire service vehicles and to keep patients, visitors and staff safe.
From 29 April any vehicles parked on red lines / cross hatchings at Warrington Hospital will receive warning notices.
When works are completed at Warrington Hospital any vehicles found parked on these red line / cross hatching areas at either site will receive a parking charge notice (PCN). Parking on the old double yellow lines will not be enforced unless parking is unsafe or causing an obstruction.
The start date for full enforcement of parking restrictions on the red markings will be shared when work has completed at Warrington Hospital. After this date once a PCN has been issued for parking in these restricted areas, it will not be revoked or cancelled.
These restrictions apply to anyone parking on Warrington Hospital premises including staff, contractors, patients, visitors, and blue badge holders.
Similar red line markings and restrictions will be introduced at Halton Hospital over the coming months.
