Dermatology AI Service – Warrington

General introduction

The AI Dermatology Service is run in partnership with Skin Analytics, an external provider of medical-grade artificial intelligence called DERM.

DERM analyses photographic images to recognise skin cancer and common harmless skin conditions. Because it can provide a faster diagnosis, patients with benign conditions often need fewer hospital appointments. This helps us prioritise more urgent cases, with many patients receiving treatment on the same day.

The safety and effectiveness of DERM have been demonstrated in several studies. Every AI result is followed by a human ‘sense check’ from a trained member of staff, offering patients additional reassurance.
