Children in Care – Warrington
General introduction
The team exists to meet the health needs of children who are described as being in care and are the responsibility of the local authority within foster care, residential care or supported independent living.
We aim to provide a supportive service that addresses the health needs of children in care across Warrington through providing the following services:
- Assess, plan, implement and review healthcare for school‑aged children in care (including children in Warrington Borough Council accommodation and those placed in Warrington by other local authorities)
- Develop individual and holistic health care plans to ensure each child’s needs are understood and supported
- Deliver staff training to support robust, effective statutory health assessments
- Support health promotion targeted to vulnerable young people
- Support and advise foster carers, with training on topics such as being healthy, teenage health and medicines management
- Attend and contribute to multi‑agency meetings to ensure health needs are met
- Maintain up‑to‑date health data for young people placed in Warrington
